Legal forum on startups runs until July

Seeking to guide startups in setting up and commencing business in the Philippines, the Disini Tech Legal Forum held the first part of the “Legal Guerilla Guide for Startups” last June 15 at A Clean and Well-Lighted Place in Pasig City. The forum was part of a series of fora which aims to explain the legal issues concerning startups, as well as to provide entrepreneurs with an avenue to consult their specific legal concerns. 

Atty. JJ Disini, Managing Partner of Disini & Disini Law Office addressed the issue of the different types of business organizations and guided participants on which type best fits certain situations. He also discussed the qualifications for foreign investors seeking to do business in the country.

On the other hand, Atty. Rowena Disini, partner of Disini & Disini Law Office focused on the procedure in applying for registration. She talked about the government agencies concerned, permits required, and contracts involved in setting up a startup. Outlining the government incentives given particularly by Bureau of Investments and the Philippine Economic Zone Authority, Atty. Larisa Serzo lectured on the perks of investing in identified business areas. Lastly, Atty. Keeshia Alix discussed the different employment types and the mechanisms to protect employees.

The event concluded with an open forum where participants were able to consult their respective legal concerns.

The Legal Guerilla Guide for Startups continues on June 29 at O2 Space and July 6 at Acceler8, both in Makati City.
