This is a press release from the Embassy of Japan in the Philippines.
MANILA, Philippines – The Embassy of Japan plans to hold a job fair for returning Filipino nurses and caregivers on Friday, August 26 in Makati or BGC area (venue to be confirmed).
Japan has been accepting Filipino nurses and caregivers based on the Japan-Philippines Economic Partnership Agreement (JPEPA). Since then, over 500 Filipino nurses and caregivers have already returned to the Philippines. This event aims at benefiting the returnees who were not able to obtain the Japanese licensure or to some who opted to stay here in the Philippines after their job term in Japan. They have experience working in a hospital or caregiving facility in Japan under direct supervision of Japanese staff, and have learned superior knowledge and skills in this field. They have also been educated with basic Japanese through extensive Japanese language training with the total period of 6 to 12 months provided by the Japanese government, and by living in Japan for 3 to 5 years.
Since 2012, the Embassy has held an annual job fair with Japanese companies and medical institutes to help the returning Filipino nurses and caregivers to further utilize their skills and experiences acquired in Japan and to also strengthen the relationship between Japan and the Philippines.
Last year, around 60 JPEPA returnees and 47 companies participated in the job fair. Many Japanese companies in sectors like manufacturing and education-related industries were in need of Japanese-speaking Filipino staff. Through the past job fairs, some returnees were hired as company nurses, Japanese language teachers, interpreters, and office staff. More employer participants from Japanese companies and medical institutes and even more JPEPA returnees are expected this year.
Application for participants is acceptable at the Embassy until August 12, 2016. For further information, please contact 551-5710 local 2117 or email ecosec@ma.mofa.go.jp. – Rappler.com
