Punongbayan & Araullo holds CEO Business Forum

Punongbayan & Araullo (P&A), one of the leading professional services firms in the country, will once again hold its CEO Business Forum. This year’s topic, “The Road to 2015 ASEAN Economic Community (AEC): Maximizing Opportunities and Facing Challenges,” intends to highlight the country’s potential to grow in an integrated economy and to discuss its preparedness in facing the challenges surrounding the establishment of the AEC. The forum is part of the private sector’s on-going initiative to foster a wider and deeper understanding of the AEC.

The ASEAN Economic Community, one of the three pillars of a stable, prosperous, and highly competitive ASEAN region, is envisioned to take place in 2015. The AEC aims for a single market and production base characterized by free flow of goods, services, investments, capital, and skilled labor.

While the AEC is expected to translate to opportunities for businesses, there are concerns that an integrated regional economy also means risks and threats for ASEAN member countries that are not prepared for increased overseas competition and liberalization.

P&A initiated this forum to provide the private sector and other key stakeholders with a venue to discuss how to embrace integration with the goal of harnessing its benefits and maximizing its opportunities.

The Deputy Secretary-General for ASEAN Economic Community, Dr. Lim Hong Hin, will be attending as the keynote speaker. Other prominent speakers from the private sector, academe and the government will also be participating in the forum.
