Filipino math wizards won four medals in another contest in China to sustain their triumph abroad.

The Philippine team composed of 4 students bagged 2 gold and 2 silver medals at the 2016 China Western Mathematical Invitational (CWMI) contest held from August 13 to 18 in Sichuan, China.

Winning gold medals are Albert John Patupat of De La Salle University Integrated School and Shaquille Wyan Que of Grace Christian College.

The silver medalists are Adam Christopher Chan of Grace Christian College and Luke Matthews Bernardo of De La Salle University Integrated School, according to team leader James Kelvin Martin.

“We congratulate these four talented math wizards for their triumph. This is another win by Filipino students who have been bringing honor to the country in different international math competitions since June,” said Dr. Isidro Aguilar of the Mathematics Trainers Guild (MTG)-Philippines, an organization of math experts which trains and sends students to compete abroad.

Countries and territories which joined the (CWMI) were Russia, China, Hong Kong, Macau, Uzbekistan, India, Indonesia, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan and the Philippines.

The CWMI is considered one of the toughest math competitions in China.

Recently, Filipino students won one silver and 3 bronze medals at the 15th China Girls Mathematical Olympiad (CGMO) in Beijing and one silver and four bronze medals at the China Southeast Mathematical Olympiad (CSMO) in Jiangxi. – Rappler.com
