MANILA, Philippines – Since much of day-to-day business communication is made through e-mails, reports, and memos, today’s globalized business world demands that employees have the ability to communicate in clear and concise English.
However, speaking in English requires a different skill from writing clearly in it.
Effective business writing – that is, brief, concise, and grammatically correct – is a reflection of a company’s professional image. It also helps avoid misunderstandings that can impact business revenue and operations.
Writer’s Block Philippines, an organization dedicated to empowering writers, communicators, and creative entrepreneurs, will be hosting “The Basics of Business Writing,” a practical workshop that will introduce participants to the basics of corporate communications, and will cover strategies for writing emails and reports quickly, correctly, and professionally.
Carlo Figueroa will be the guest facilitator of the workshop. Figueroa has more than 15 years of dynamic and professional experience as a communications executive, public affairs professional, and a media practitioner, as well as managing organizational relations with the press, government agencies, civil society, and other business stakeholders.
Figueroa is an assistant professorial lecturer at the Department of Communication, De La Salle University-Manila. He teaches public relations, writing for multimedia, political communication, campaign strategies, and issue management.
The half-day workshop will include developing a writing strategy to make your corporate text more targeted and persuasive, as well as writing exercises and grammar drills to provide a comprehensive brush-up on corporate writing.
“The Basics of Business Writing” for ideal for anyone whose job relies heavily on communicating business strategies and directions by writing emails and reports, most especially:
- Professional corporate communicators and business owners/entrepreneurs
- Professionals working in the field of communication and other related fields
- Freelance writers, creative entrepreneurs, and business owners who use communication to build their brand and promote their company
- Anyone who works in “the global office” of the business process outsourcing industry
“The Basics of Business Writing” will be held on Saturday, September 17, from 1 pm to 6 pm at Fully Booked, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City.
