MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine Women’s University (PWU) Taft Avenue campus will host the 25th National Conference and Inauguration of the AMIC Office on November 25, from 8 am to 5 pm, with the theme “Deconstructing Towards Understanding: The Communication Content and Style of President Rodrigo R. Duterte”. The AMIC conference aims to “deconstruct” President Duterte as “medium” and “message.”
AMIC, or the Asia Media Information and Communication Centre, is an international, non-profit non-government organization mandated to spearhead communication and media development in Asia-Pacific. Its new Manila office will be at the PWU Taft campus.
PWU President Dr. Francisco Benitez and Mel V. Velarde, chair of the Asian Institute of Journalism and Communications, will give the welcome remarks.
The conference will feature four panel discussions. Panel participants include Secretary Enesto Abella, presidential spokesman; Charlie Agatep, founder, Agatep Associates, Inc.; Presidential Communications Office; Ramon “Bong” Osorio, ABS-CBN communications consultant and University of Santo Tomas professor; Ellen Tordesillas, Vera Files; Marites Vitug, Rappler.com; John Nery, inquirer.net; Maria Regina Reyes, ABS-CBN; University of the Philippines professors Farah Cunanan and Clarita Carlos; professor Clement Camposano, University of Asia and the Pacific; Nicanor Gabunada, Jr., Presidential Communications Team.
Maria Mercedes F. Robles, chair, AMIC board of management, will give the synthesis of the proceedings while Dr. Crispin Maslog, chair, AMIC Board of Directors, will deliver the closing remarks.
