Good news for those who are afraid of commitment when it comes to broadband at home

MANILA, Philippines – Good news for those who are “tako-mmitment” – or afraid to commit – when it comes to paying for Internet at home: starting this month, Globe is releasing new prepaid and postpaid products that are not just more affordable, but also free from lock-up periods.

The telco’s goal is bring first-world Internet to 2 million Filipino homes by 2020, said Martha Sazon, Globe’s Senior Vice President for Broadband Business, during a press launch held at the company’s headquarters in BGC last October 5.

But majority of subscribers are on prepaid. On top of concerns about speed and connection reliability, they see postpaid plans as expensive, especially with installation fees and contract lock-ups of up to 36 months, Sazon pointed out.

To address this, Globe is rolling out new postpaid plans with no lock-up periods. To entice customers even further, there’s even a three-month trial option, where subscribers just need to pay P499 plus the modem cost to enjoy speeds up to 50 mpbs and data allocation up to 600GB, depending on plan they choose.

Globe also introduces a new prepaid device that claims to be faster than typical modems. “For the first time ever, Filipino families can connect to the Internet with 50% better coverage than myfi,” said Winsely Bangit, Globe’s Head of Acquisitions.

It’s also eligible for HOMESURF – a more affordable surfing promo. On top of any existing GOSURF subscription, users can top up in increments of 1GB for only P15. For those with higher data needs, there’s HOMESURF 349 with 10GB data and HOMESURF599 with 15GB data, both valid for 10 days.

For both prepaid and postpaid users, device installation, monitoring usage and subscribing to promos is also made easier with the new Globe At Home app, now available for download via Google Play.

A new “Tech Squad” of trained experts will also provide better after-sales service and end-to-end assistance for all new subscribers.

“Our mission is really to connect more Filipino homes to fast Internet, and we’re doing that one area at a time,” said Barbie Dapul, Head of Marketing for Globe At Home.

These new offers will be available from Globe starting October 15. – Rappler.com
