This year’s Hackathon #AppHack2017 aims to showcase the power of Drupal 8, with the theme “Content as a Service.”

Drupal Pilipinas, the event organizer, said it “wants to see various integrations that developers can make out of Drupal 8, while engaging them with their teams through combining of their skills and abilities to develop amazing applications powered by Drupal.”

“It is not about winning the contest it is about engaging people to “come together for the code and stay for the community,” it added.

AppHack aims to bring students, developers, designers, web enthusiasts and technology professionals to create innovative apps using open source technologies.

There will be two categories: the Drupal Apprentice Track and Professional track. Apprentice Track is open to all students with basic to advance knowledge in Drupal or Web Development in general. The Professional Track is open to all community members who have an advanced up to expert level skill in Drupal.

Day One of the hackathon will be on Sunday, October 15, for the Pre-hack event. Drupal is expecting more than 20 teams to compete. It invited speakers and mentors who will present some innovations, strategies, and features that the teams can implement for their applications.

Day Two will be on Thursday, October 26, for the presentation sessions. Participants are expected to pitch their projects to the panel of judges. Winners will be announced within the day.
