Union Bank of the Philippines (UnionBank) has issued its final call to all GSIS UMID, GSIS eCard, SSS UMID and SSS Quickcard holders to claim their EMV-chip enabled cards by June 30, 2018, the deadline set by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas for EMV migration in order to have safer transactions. 

The bank will deactivate all magnetic stripe cards by end of the month and these can no longer be used for any transactions beyond deactivation date.

GSIS pensioners and members may log on to www.unionbank.com/gsis and use their GSIS number or common reference number (CRN) to determine their designated card pick up location.

They may claim their EMV cards at 44 designated GSIS onsite offices from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Mondays thru Saturdays, except holidays; at three designated UnionBank branches from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Mondays thru Fridays (except holidays), and at three non-UnionBank branch and non-GSIS onsite offices. The pick up sites will be actively distributing cards until June 30, 2018.

GSIS cardholders who will claim their cards in any of the pick up locations or UnionBank branches from May 28 to June 30 will be qualified to join the Get Your GSIS EMV UMID / eCard Promo that will give away P10,000 worth of SM or Cebu Pacific gift certificates. For GSIS pensioners abroad, their cards will be mailed to their registered address on the agency’s records.

Meanwhile, SSS members may claim their EMV enabled cards at the UnionBank kiosk at the SSS branch where their UMID/Quickcard was issued, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Mondays thru Fridays, except holidays. UMID cardholders will be issued a temporary UnionBank Quickcard.  

For SSS pensioners, cards can be claimed at their maintaining UnionBank branch. All cards claimed will be activated the following banking day.
