Philpop 2013 Finals Night: A musical spectacle

MANILA, PHILIPPINES – After months of preparation and voting, it’s time for the grand showdown: The Philpop 2013 Finals Night is happening on Saturday, July 20 at the Meralco Theater, Pasig City. Each of the finalists, along with their interpreters, will have one last shot at the grand prize of P1 million.

A total of 12 sets of composers and performers are vying for the winner’s title and for the chance to be local music’s next big thing. It’s a night for celebrating a new generation of OPM – different genres, styles, and messages united by one love for music.

This musical spectacle will also include numbers from other top artists in the industry, such as Ogie Alcasid, Regine Velasquez, Martin Nievera, Charice Pempengc, The Ryan Cayabyab Singers, The Company, 5AZ1, Baihana, The Opera, and beat box artist Mike Salomon.

Aside from the grand prize, other prizes at stake are P500,000 for the first runner-up, P250,000 for the second runner-up, and P100,000 each for the Smart People’s Choice awardee and the Meralco special award winner. Each awardee will also receive a special trophy commissioned from glass sculptor Ramon Orlina.

The 12 final entries have been getting heavy radio airplay, and their accompanying music videos have also been making the rounds of TV and web. The Finals Night will be telecast on TV5 at 9 pm. – Rappler.com
