MANILA, Philippines – The De La Salle University (DLSU) Arts College Government, in partnership with the DLSU College of Liberal Arts, will hold the 1st Liberal Leaders Summit on November 13 to 15 at DLSU-Manila. This event is endorsed by the Commission on Higher Education.
The summit is open to all student leaders from all over the country who have bachelor’s degrees in arts, social sciences, or humanities courses. The organizers aim to build a national liberal arts network between students, media organizations, and other institutions.
The 3-day event will tackle the theme “Crafting The Liberal Arts Blueprint.” An esteemed line-up of speakers from politics, media, and the academe will stress the importance of a liberal arts education and its role in shaping the society.
Guests include Dr. Julio Teehankee, Dean of the DLSU College of Liberal Arts; Jose Javier Reyes, film director; Maria Ressa, Rappler’s President and CEO; Risa Hontiveros, former Akbayan Representative; Teddy Casiño, former Bayan Muna Representative; and Jonathan Yabut, winner of The Apprentice Asia.
The 1st Liberal Leaders Summit is DLSU’s primary effort in strengthening the identity of liberal arts education and establishing its foundation towards unity and collective action all over the country.
