On Dec 14, 2013, the Ateneo De Manila University will host year’s 2nd TEDx, with the theme of introspection and growth dubbed as 'Project I'

MANILA, Philippines – TEDx is returning to Katipunan.

On Dec 14, 2013, the Ateneo De Manila University (ADMU) will host this year’s 2nd TEDx – a day-long conference that gathers passionate speakers who embrace creativity and inspire action in their communities. TEDxADMU is independently organized by members of the Ateneo Junior Marketing Association in coordination with Filipino TED Fellow, Fr. Xavier Alpasa, S.J.

Over 1,000 attendees will gather at ADMU’s Henry Lee Irwin Theater to hear the latest developments in Technology, Entertainment, and Design in the Philippines. Read about ADMU’s 2012 TEDx event here.

Themed “Project I,” this year’s selected speakers will discuss topics on how the self, even as a work in progress, has the power to engage minds and create meaningful change in the community. The “I” will be revealed as both a projection of the self to the world, and as a project that is challenged to take a journey of self-introspection in order to grow.

TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together in the spirit of “ideas worth sharing.” The original TED Conferences invite the world’s leading thinkers and doers to speak for 18 minutes on a diverse mix of topics. Previous TED speakers have included people such as Bill Gates, Elizabeth Gilbert, Philippe Starck, Isabel Allende and former UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown. Here in the Philippines, past TEDx events have featured Rappler’s Maria Ressa, Mayor Pie Alvarez of San Vicente Palawan, Youtube sensation Christopher Lao, and Filmmaker Pepe Diokno.

The final list of speakers will be announced on a future date. Applications for tickets are now being processed. Accepted participants will be announced on November 15, 2013.– Rappler.com
