MANILA, Philippines – A Rappler editor was chosen as one of 16 journalists from across Asia to participate in the 2014 Asia Journalism Fellowship (AJF) in Singapore.

Kris Danielle “KD” Suarez, Rappler’s Science & Nature editor and multimedia journalist, was chosen to participate in the fellowship, a program of Singapore’s Temasek Foundation and Nanyang Technological University (NTU).

The program, first held in 2008, brings journalists from across the continent to the NTU Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information for 3 months of learning and exchange, the AJF said.

Fellows will take part in seminars and workshops “designed to sharpen professional skills and deepen their understanding of key trends shaping their profession,” and work on an independent project under the supervision of subject-matter experts.

Participants will also have access to “key newsmakers in Singapore’s public sector, business community and civil society, offering insights into the challenges faced by one of Asia’s most cosmopolitan hub cities,” the AJF said.

The fellowship counts 77 journalists from 15 different Asian nations as its alumni, the organization said.

Aside from Suarez, the 15 other fellows are:
