The Joint Foreign Chambers of the Philippines’ 3rd Arangkada PH forum takes place on Feb 26 at the Makati Shangri-la Hotel

MANILA, Philippines —  The Philippine economy has been doing better than expected. But growth has not translated to enough quality jobs for the unemployed and underemployed.

What steps can we take to address this?

Ideas and recommendations will be shared at the Joint Foreign Chambers of the Philippines (JFC)’s 3rd Arangkada Philippines Forum. The event takes place on February 26 at the Rizal Ballroom of Makati Shangri-la Hotel, from 8:30 am to 2 pm.

This year’s forum carries the theme, “More Reforms = More Jobs!” reflecting the Aquino administration’s goal of achieving inclusive growth.

Over 24 speakers from the public and private sectors will discuss issues critical to bringing more investments and boosting the country’s economy.

Results of JFC’s 3rd Anniversary Assessment will also be unveiled at the forum to update participants on the country’s progress in accomplishing the 471 recommendations listed in the original Arangkada Philippines: A Business Perspective report published in December 2010.

The Arangkada recommendations are based on the insights of nearly 300 Filipino and foreign investors who participated in 9 focus group discussions.

If implemented, these will result in US$75 billion in new foreign investments, create 10 million jobs, and generate over P1 trillion in revenues for the economy within this decade.

The report further discusses how to sustain the strong growth of “big winner” sectors such as agribusiness, creative industries, information technology, mining, tourism, and more.

Interested participants may register online at www.arangkadaphilippines.com/forum2014.

The full-day forum will be streamed live on the Arangkada Philippines Project’s official page and forum website. Live Tweets and status updates will also be available on Arangkada’s Facebook and Twitter pages. — Rappler.com
