MANILA, Philippines – Brought to you by PLANET ZIPS, the pioneer poi company of the Philippines, and B-Side Productions, PFF 2014 is a unique and one-of-a-kind event that aims to be a phenomenon celebrated not only nationally, but also regionally in the years to come. To mark this trailblazing event, PFF 2014 will be headlined by world-renowned fire/poi artist Yuta (Japan). Joining him are Marvin Ong (Malaysia/USA), Shin Masta (Korea), Colin Peterson (USA), Yaron Siev (Israel), Aifique (Malaysia) and Lae & Libor (Czech Republic).
PFF 2014 is a three-day festival that will bring together motion and music/art professionals and enthusiasts from across the country with the goal of showcasing these wonderful forms of expression through collaborative learning via workshops and community celebration.
Internationally, fire and flow arts communities and festivals are a growing trend that has been spreading like wildfire. With the recent development and exposure of these art forms across our own shores, the time is ripe to mount an event such as this. In parallel, Planet Zips has, over the past couple of years, built the foundations and groundswell, with their quarterly event SpinDependence (a.k.a. Spin-D), which has only strengthened, with bigger and better turnouts each time around.
Workshops begin at 10am on all 3 days of PFF with an Open Stage performance night and the star studded Gala performance night, featuring Talendadong Pinoy 2012 Grand Champion fire hula hooper Daniel “Astroboy” Darwin, Fire Queen of Boracay Miss Rachel Lobangco, Flow Arts Cebu and the Planet Zips Luminaries. Other motion artists joining this one of a kind event are Chris Ekelund & Lisa Nilsson of AcroYoga Manila, Jill Ngo-Crisologo & Goddesses of Bellydance, and EBC Philippines. Representing the visual arts is Piaget Martelino.
Musical guests include Bb Pilipinas 2013 Finalist Imee Schweighart & DJ Allrock, DJ Christman, performance artist Bong Dela Torre, djembe community Adinkra Lumads, infectious party band Flippin’ Soul Stompers, Afro-Brazilian drum ensemble Brigada and celebrated DJ Christina “Miss Badkiss” Bartges.
So come on down to Arts in the city on March 27–29 and free your flow!
