MANILA, Philippines – Ending conflict-related sexual violence is of fundamental importance to international peace and security. Sexual violence in armed conflict not only affects women and girls, but also men and boys – preventing their full political, social and economic participation in society.

It is time to act and put an end to it.

Be a part of the Global Summit to End Sexual Violence in Conflict and let your voices be heard.

The British and Australian embassies are looking for two young people who are passionate about this global issue to join a delegation of influential Filipino women who will attend the summit in London, United Kingdom, from June 10 to 13, 2014, hosted by the UK Foreign Secretary with UNHCR Special Envoy Angelina Jolie.

Both embassies will jointly sponsor the delegation of 10 Filipino women – chosen by the Philippine government – who have played key roles in conflict resolution and peace building, and the two competition winners. They will be attending the Summit’s Fringe in London. The delegation will get a chance to meet the more than 1,200 delegates, including government officials, international organisation representatives, and experts from across the world.

To join, submit a short essay expressing what you think needs to be done to bring an end to sexual violence in conflict and how you make use of what you learn from attending the summit.
