Find other routes: DPWH to close Magallanes Interchange

MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) –The southbound lane of the Magallanes Interchange in Makati City will be closed for repairs starting 10 pm Friday, August 8, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) announced.

That portion of the road will be closed during the entire weekend until Monday, 5 am. On weeknights until August 17, it will closed from 11 pm to 5 am.

The DPWH did not provide detailed alternative routes for motorists. It only advised those going to the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) and Alabang to take the Osmeña Highway-Magallanes Service Road.

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority on Friday, August 8, said that from August 9 to 17, EDSA-Taft Avenue will be opened to left-turning vehicles coming from Roxas Boulevard.  

The repairs on the Magallanes Interchange will be done in stages, Public Works Secretary Rogelio Singson said on Thursday. DPWH has until February 28, 2015, to complete the rehabilitation of the Magallanes Interchange.

“We would only work one lane at a time and keep the other lane open for the  public’s use. We would be fixing the pavement at night time,” Reynaldo Tagudando, director of DPWH office in the National Capital Region, said.

Asphalt overlay is being done on the third-level flyover (along EDSA) and second-level interchange from abutment to abutment. Expansion joints are being repaired, while the deck slab of the second-level interchange and the inner lane of the third-level flyover (Pasay-bound) are being retrofitted. – Rappler.com
