Applications open for 2015 Australia Awards Fellowships
The application period is from 1 August to 10 September 2014 for Fellowships commencing in 2015

MANILA, Philippines – The Australian Government has announced the opening of its competitive grants program, the Australia Awards Fellowships.  The application period is from 1 August to 10 September 2014 for Fellowships commencing in 2015.

Australia Awards Fellowships provides organizations across Australia the opportunity to expand and further their relationships with scholars and leaders in developing countries, including the Philippines.

Australian Ambassador to the Philippines Bill Tweddell said, “Australia Awards continue a long tradition of international education and institutional partnerships that have been important elements of the Australian Government’s overseas aid program since the 1950s.

Australia Awards contribute to the achievement of development objectives across a range of sectors and are a feature of nearly all of Australia’s bilateral aid programs globally.”

Under the Fellowships program, Australian organizations can host short-term study and professional development for current leaders and mid-career professionals from eligible developing countries, including the Philippines.  Australian organisations can propose for their Philippines counterpart organizations to undertake a combination of short term study, training, professional development, networking and work experience.

These will be delivered by the Australian host organisation in Australia.  Fellowships can be between 10 calendar days and 12 months duration.

Fellowship proposals must align with the aims of the Australia Awards Fellowships program and the Australian Government’s new development policy Australian Aid: promoting prosperity, increasing stability, reducing poverty: infrastructure; trade facilitation and international competitiveness; effective governance (policies, institutions, and functioning economies); education; building resilience (humanitarian assistance, disaster risk reduction, and social protection); and gender equality and empowering women and girls.

Australia Awards are prestigious international Scholarships and Fellowships intended to strengthen partnerships and linkages between Australia and the Philippines. It aims to develop skills and knowledge but also build enduring people to people links between Australia, its regional neighbours and the broader international community.
