Kuwentong Pambata is an animated series of 52 Adarna Storybooks enriched with day care and kindergarten-appropriate lessons

MANILA, Philippines – Knowledge Channel launched its newest offering, the K Channel On-Demand for Early Childhood and Development – Kuwentong Pambata last August 20, 2014 at Bagong Ilog Elementary School in Pasig City. 

Another addition to the growing roster of educational programs by Knowledge Channel, produced with the support of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Adarna House, and ABS-CBN Animation, Kuwentong Pambata, is an animated series of 52 Adarna Storybooks enriched with Day Care and Kindergarten-appropriate lessons in Listening and Comprehension, Reading by Association, and Basic Numeracy (Counting 1-10, and Addition and Subtraction).

Recognizing the immense influence of television, these animations are inculcated with Filipino values and tradition instilling the love of learning and discovery among children as they enter formal education.

“Today’s launch of Kuwentong Pambata—an animated series of 52 Adarna Storybooks, is yet another milestone in Knowledge Channel’s pursuit for making effective learning happen across all sectors of the education system,” commends Mr. Oscar Lopez, Chairman Emeritus of Lopez Holdings.

“We at the Knowledge Channel believe that learning can be done best if we are able to create learning experiences that are responsive to the natural abilities and talents of learners so that we can hone them to love learning and be active participants in their own learning. This to us is the key for them to attain their best selves,” said Knowledge Channel president and Executive Director Rina Lopez-Bautista in her speech. 

In attendance were 56 principals and teachers from the Schools Division of Pasig City. Also present were Chairman Emeritus of Lopez Holdings, Mr. Oscar Lopez, Raissa Hechanova-Posadas from the Knowledge Channel Board of Trustees, DSWD Secretary Dinky Soliman, Pasig City Mayor Hon. Maribel Eusebio- who praised the efforts of Knowledge Channel, Department of Education (DepEd) and DSWD in uplifting the quality of education in the country- National Educators Academy of the Philippines’ (NEAP) Director Maria Lourdes Pantoja, and Asst. Schools Division Superintendent Marivic Leaño as they graced the ceremonial launch of Kuwentong Pambata.

A demonstration of other Knowledge Channel programs was also held which showcased K to 12 on KChannel by far reaching 3,973,625 students, 3,236 schools with KChannel Connection and Access plus 37, 986 teachers trained on the integration of KChannel in the classroom, Alternative Learning System (ALS) which has a number of 1,999 ALS Mobile Teachers/Implementers with KChannel Access, and the Learning Effectively through Enhanced Pedagogies (LEEP) with a total of 2,424 principals and teachers trained and 750 schools where the LEEP training program was conducted.

Kuwentong Pambata may be viewed on air through the K Channel, and K Channel On-Demand Packages. –
