This is a press release from the Upsilon Sigma Phi Alumni Association.

MANILA, Philippines – Everything is all set for “ONE RUN: Run as ONE for SAF 44 Families” on Sunday, March 15.

It will kick-off beside the People Power Monument at 5:00 am and see its way through Camp Aguinaldo and Camp Crame.

“We conceptualized the activity specifically to place focus once again on the real victims of the Mamasapano tragedy and to support the continued unity of the PNP and the Armed Forces of the Philippines,” Upsilon Sigma Phi Alumni Association President Atty. Jesse Andres said.

Upsilon Sigma Phi has partnered with Rotary Club District 3780 for the event.

Rotary Club District Governor and SAF founder Party list Congressman Samuel Pagdilao said he agreed with the purpose of the activity and that they have moved their rotary members to throw in their full support that will immediately benefit the SAF 44 families.

AFP Chief of Staff General Gregorio Catapang, who is also a member of the Upsilon Sigma Phi Alumni Association, expressed his support. “We in the AFP fully support this activity to show our solidarity with the PNP. We are one in protecting the citizens and we thank the private sector organizers for creating this to also show that we are all concerned for the welfare of the families of our policemen and soldiers,” he said.

RunforChange Inc. President Eric Pasion indicated that over 2,000 runners have initially committed to participate in the run that features 3K, 5K and 10K distances. “We did this so that the whole family can join in the activity. We also lowered the registration fees to P500 for all categories so it is affordable to all”.

Andres called on private citizens to contribute in their own way to augment the financial and educational assistance for SAF 44 families.

Amb. Amable R. Aguiluz V, Chairman of the AMA Education System, announced that he will provide one scholarship grant per SAF family for every 10 registered runners who will participate in the unity run. “This is our way of contributing to the families of the SAF 44 who we recognize for their heroism and sacrifice,” he said.

For those interested to run and participate in “ONE RUN: Run as ONE for SAF 44 Families”, they can register online before the event or onsite at 4:30 am on the day itself. Race information is available and online registration can be done at http://registration.onerun.ph and on www.facebook.com/onerunph.
