P.Inked: Empowering women through ink

MANILA, Philippines – In the past, tattoos have been labelled with a negative stigma by society. Despite the art of inked skin having recently gained open-minded acceptance from the public, this realm has been mostly dominated by men. However, like all fields — be it in art or other disciplines, women have shown that they can be equal to (or, can even exceed) their male counterparts.

P.Inked (Pilipinas Inked) is conceptualized and held to celebrate both women and the art of tattooing. This event started four years ago and is founded by Khamill Batuigas, a strong woman in the forefront of the tattoo industry and owner of the pioneering tattoo supply shop in the Philippines, The Cherry Bomb Shoppe.

The goal of P.Inked is to empower women with tattoos — to be confident to fight against discrimination which is prevalent among tattooed individuals and violence and harassment which is a huge concern for women.

The event not only showcases the best of the best in tattoos. P.Inked also highlights exciting performances from the country’s top bands. These year, the event will feature scene favorite, Franco, upcoming hardcore powerhouse, Give Chance To Run, Talata and many more. – Rappler.com
