MANILA, Philippines – The Council on Health Research for Development, in partnership with the Philippine Department of Health (DOH) and Philippine Department of Science and Technology (DOST), has organized the Global Forum on Research and Innovation for Health in Manila on August 24-27, 2015.

Themed “People at the Center of Health Research and Innovation,” the forum will bring together some of the world’s leading stakeholders from the government, business, non-profit, and international organizations, academic and research institutions, social entrepreneurs to tackle many of the biggest global health issues and create effective partnerships for action on research and innovation for health.

“The forum is geared to help participants acquire new understandings of current and future challenges in global health, as we together find appropriate solutions sourced from all corners of the world,” said DOST secretary Mario G. Montejo.

About 3,000 delegates from 50 countries are expected to participate in more than 70 conference sessions of the system-focused subthemes on:

  • Increasing the Effectiveness of Research and Innovation for Health through Social Accountability
  • Increasing Investments
  • Country-driven Capacity Building and
  • issue-focused subthemes on the Role of Research and Innovation in Health in improving Food and Nutrition Safety and Security, Health in Mega Cities, and Disaster Risk Reduction.
