This is a press release from The Asia Foundation.
ABC+ is looking for Kinaray-a, Rinconada, and Masbateño writers and illustrators who will be giving life to children’s books in the said languages.
ABC+ (Advancing Basic Education in the Philippines) project is a partnership of the Department of Education (DepEd) and the US Agency for International Development (USAID), implemented by RTI International together with The Asia Foundation, SIL LEAD, and Florida State University.
Successful applicants will be invited to join a BookLab, a writing and illustration workshop in the first quarter of 2021.
During the BookLab, writers and illustrators will be working together to create beautiful, engaging children’s books. They will be mentored by editors and art directors to improve their stories until they are published. The children’s books will be printed and distributed to Kinaray-a, Rinconada, and Masbateño speaking schools and will be made available online on Let’s Read .
Help build a library of children’s stories in your mother tongue. Share your work with ABC+ and accomplish the application form now! The deadline for application is on January 30, 2021.
