This is an announcement.
MANILA, Philippines – The Metro Manila Pride Queer Arts Festival is an annual fundraising event held every February in time for National Arts Month. It is a space for different forms of art by and for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, and asexual persons (LGBTQIA+) and their allies.
This event is envisioned to be a festive, colorful, uncensored, non-curated, all-encompassing, and immersive platform. It aims to increase the visibility of LGBTQIA+ art and artists while providing them a safe space to freely and fearlessly tell the stories they want to share.
Through this festival, we want to encourage the audience to support LGBTQIA+ artists, motivate other existing queer and allied artists, and inspire LGBTQIA+ attendees to find their own stories told in these works of art in an effort to signal to them that they are not alone in their journeys.
This year’s theme is “Queerception.”
It is one part a nod to the nature and graciousness of the FRINGE Manila Festival (who not only inspired us to create the event but are also giving us a space for the inaugural launch); and one part a nod to science fiction as we aim to instill the ideas mentioned above and in the artists’ minds through the dream that is art.
The event will feature visual art pieces, music, spoken word, and films. – Rappler.com
