Power, water, tollway biz hike MPIC H1 profits by 58%

MANILA, Philippines – Pangilinan-led conglomerate Metro Pacific Investments Corp (MPIC) reported a 57.58% increase in net income for January to June period do to higher earnings from businesses, especially power, water and tollway.

On Thursday, it reported earnings of P5.12 billion in the first 6 months of 2012 from P3.25 billion in the same period last year.

Its main business units – Maynilad, Manila Electric Co. (Meralco), Metro Pacific Tollways Corp. (MPTC), and the Hospitals Group — generated higher-than-expected revenues.
