The Energy department says outlets are encountering delivery problems

MANILA, Philippines – Consumers may find it difficult to buy liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) tanks from dealers’ outlets due to delivery problems following heavy flooding in the capital, the Department of Energy (DOE) said Friday, August 10.

The DOE said that while major players advised there was no shortage in the supply of LPG in the country, some of their outlets encountered delays in deliveries.

“It is best for customers to order through their tawag (call) centers,” the department said in a statement.

Some independent refillers are also waiting for their shipments as import vessels have been unable to dock and discharge their LPG cargo due to high and rough sea at the Bataan port.

“If flooding has subsided and good weather will continue, supply of independent refillers is expected to normalize early next week,” the DOE said.

The DOE warned retailers against taking advantage of the situation and selling 11-kilogram LPG tanks beyond the P700 average retail price in the market before the August 7 flooding occurred.

It said retailers who are overpricing petroleum products will face criminal charges and fine of at least P10,000. – Rappler.com
