MANILA, Philippimes – Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Governor Amando Tetangco Jr got a higher “grade” than his US counterpart, Federal Reserve chairman Ben Bernanke, in the list of top central bankers in the world.
International business magazine Global Finance gave Tetangco a grade of “A” for leading the BSP, which has been key in ensuring that the local economy is spared from global economic woes.
This is the 4th time in his term that the magazine named him one of the world’s “best central bankers.”
Bernanke was given a grade of “B” this year, an improvement from last year’s “C.”
Aside from Tetangco, other central bank heads who received an “A” grade are:
- Australia’s Glenn Stevens
- Canada’s Mark Carney
- Israel’s Stanley Fischer
- Malaysia’s Zeti Akhtar Aziz
- Taiwan’s Fai-Nan Perng
