Clark airport terminal fee cut to P450

MANILA, Philippines – Here’s a good news for passengers flying overseas from the Clark International Airport: the terminal fee has been reduced to P450 from P600.

The reduction takes effect Friday, October 5, making Clark’s international terminal fee the lowest in the country.

“It will attract more travelers and tourists to utilize the Clark International Airport,” said the airport corporation’s president and CEO Victor Luciano.

Clark’s domestic terminal fee remains the same however, Luciano said.

Clark is home to 6 budget carriers operating 24 hours a day. Among them are AirAsia Philippines, Cebu Pacific, Airphil Express, and Seair.

AirAsia Philippines welcomed the reduction in the fee.

“We have to commend CIAC for its effort in keeping our passengers happy by paying less airport fees. 150 pesos is a huge savings especially for budget travelers,” airline CEO Maan Hontiveros said in a statement.

AirAsia Philippines flies daily to Hong Kong, Macau and Kuala Lumpur from Clark. It will start daily flights to Singapore on Dec 15, 2012.

“The incentives, along with our low fares, will certainly attract more passengers and further contribute to the vibrant growth of tourism, trade and investments especially in Central and Northern Luzon,” Hontiveros added.

The number of passengers flying out of Clark grew 54% in the first 6 months of 2012 to 547,556, thanks to low fares and the expansion in flights mounted and routes serviced by carriers. – Rappler.com
