Canceled flights over Busuanga airport mishap, bad weather on Saturday, June 9
MANILA, Philippines (3rd UPDATE) – Aviation authorities announced the cancellation of all flights to and from Busuanga in Palawan on Saturday, June 9.
In a statement on Saturday, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) said that it had issued a notice to airmen announcing the cancellation of flights due to a Skyjet plane that have overshot the runway of the Francisco Reyes Airport late Friday afternoon, June 8.
CAAP said Skyjet Flight M8 717 carried 80 passengers and 6 crew members, all of whom were safe. It directed the Aircraft Accident Investigation and Inquiry board to investigatate incident.
Francisco Reyes Airport has 16 daily domestic flights from carriers Cebgo, Philippine Airlines Express, Skyjet, and Air Juan.
Cebu Pacific announced the following Cebgo flight cancellations:
- DG 6043, Manila-Busuanga (Coron), 11:05 am
- DG 6044, Busuanga (Coron)-Manila, 1:05 pm
- DG 6047, Manila-Busuanga (Coron), 1 pm
- DG 6048, Busuanga (Coron)-Manila, 2:40 pm
- M8 715/716
Cebu Pacific said the affected passengers can canceled flights can either rebook their flights for travel within 30 days from original departure date, or opt for full refund or travel fund.
“Passengers who booked through a travel agent or any other third party are likewise encouraged to provide CEB with their updated contact details so they are directly advised about any flight changes,” it added.
Meanwhile, the Manila International Airport Authority said on Saturday that the following flights to and from Occidental Mindoro were cancelled due to bad weather:
- 5J 513, MNL-San Jose
- 5J 514, San Jose-MNL
