Ortigas to expand, upgrade Greenhills, Tiendesitas
MANILA, Philippines - Real estate developer Ortigas & Company is spending P5.8 billion for its various retail developments.
In a briefing on Tuesday, February 19, Ortigas & Co. Shopping Center Division General Manager Cathy Casares-Ko told reporters that the company has 4 key retail development projects:
- Greenhills Shopping Center - P1.97 billion
- Tiendesitas - P740 million
- Estancia - P2.7 billion
- Industria - P400 million
Together, the projects will cover an additional of around 240,000 square meters of retail space.
The Greenhills Shopping Center is set to get a facelift that will include additional dining, shopping and entertainment facilities. There will also be underground and open parking spaces as well as canopied walkways.
The redevelopment of Greenhills will also include a new P1.4 billion-worth supermarket that will have have 12,000 square meters of shopping space.
Ko said Tiendesitas will still offer the best of Filipino handicrafts, furniture, fashion, entertainment and a unique pet village.
But the shopping center will be upgraded to include air-conditioning, second level shopping space, escalators and elevators, and balconies that provide an indoor/outdoor feel.
Building A will be open to the public by June 2013, while Buildings B and C will be open by October 2015 and May 2014, respectively.
Ko said Estancia will feature high-end but non-luxurious brands. She said Ortigas & Company is already in talks with several foreign brands to come in and open stores in Estancia.
The shopping center will also feature 3 levels each of parking and retail space as well as 6 levels of office space.
Industria, the smallest retail development of the company, will have a market-feel to it. It will also feature a unique arts and crafts space where exhibits can be mounted.
The shopping center will also incorporate a market, gym, services for resident, pre-school, and chapel in its development. - Rappler.com
