MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) – The construction of the Metro Rail Transit Line 7 (MRT7) will cause water service interruptions in parts of Quezon City, as Manila Water will have to relocate its major pipeline at the corner of Elliptical Road and North Avenue.
Manila Water said on Tuesday, May 21, that some 242,000 residents in 20 barangays in Quezon City will have no water from 8 pm on Friday, May 24, to 6 am on Saturday, May 25.
This is an updated schedule as the Ayala-led utility firm earlier announced that the interruptions would begin at 11 pm on Friday.
The following barangays will be affected:
- Alicia
- Bagong Pag-asa
- Bahay Toro
- Central
- Culiat
- Malaya
- New Era
- Old Capitol Site
- Pasong Tamo
- Pinyahan
- Project 6
- Ramon Magsaysay
- Santo Cristo
- San Vicente
- Sikatuna Village
- Tandang Sora
- Teachers Village East
- Teachers Village West
- UP Village
- Vasra
Manila Water said some areas may still experience service interruptions outside of the scheduled hours, due to limited raw water supply, which the company said it is managing. (READ: [ANALYSIS] The economics of Metro Manila’s burgeoning water crisis)
“As such, Manila Water is advising residents of the said barangays to store enough water when possible to supply their needs during this interruption period,” the company said.
