MANILA, Philippines – Higher toll rates will be collected at the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX)  effective 12:01am on June 14.

The Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) has approved the increase in rates – and additional P0.51 per kilometer – according to the NLEX Corporation.

The NLEX Corporation, formerly the Manila North Tollways Corporation, the operator of SCTEX.

Here are the new rates:

  • Class 3 vehicles (large trucks/trailers) – Additional P60

Mabalacat and Tipo in Subic

  • Class 1 vehicles – Additional P32
  • Class 2 vehicles – Additional P66
  • Class 3 vehicles – Additional P98

The NLEX Corporation said that since 2015, it had invested in enhance projects for the expressway.

“One of the most notable improvements was the NLEX-SCTEX integration project in 2016 which unified the toll collection of the two expressways under one electronic toll collection system. This project reduced the cumbersome toll collection stops and made expressway travel hassle-free,” said NLEX Corporation.

It added that there are new toll lanes at the Tipo Poll Plaza and the new Mabiga Interchange, and that the stretch between Tarlac and Tipo underwent massive asphalt upgrade.

“To improve 24/7 traffic monitoring and provision of roadside services, a modern traffic control room (TCR), with CCTV cameras and radio communications, was built in Mabalacat City. To enhance motorists’ safety, LED highway lights, emergency call boxes, crash cushions, and reflective delineator plates were also installed in key areas of the expressway,” said NLEX Corporation. – Rappler.com
