MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) – The Philippine unit of Japan’s No. 2 automaker Honda Motor Co. is recalling 9,743 vehicles sold in the country in 2001 to 2002 due to faulty airbags.

Honda Cars Philippines Inc. said it would replace the passenger-side airbag inflators of its Civic and CR-V models for said years because of defects.

It said the inflators could burst due to too much pressure, and send shards flying.

Honda said it would notify customers when they could send their vehicles to dealers starting April 12. Repairs would start on April 22, it added.
