Days before All Saints' Day, DTI assures the public of stable prices and supply of candles

SEASON OF CANDLES. With All Saints' Day and Christmas coming up, candle sales are expected to increase

MANILA, Philippines – With only a few days until All Saints’ Day on November 1, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) is assuring the public of stable price and supply of candles.

“There is no price increase for candle products,” said Consumer Welfare and Business Regulation Group Officer in Charge Victorio Dimagiba. “The price of candles remains the same compared to last year.”

Candles are a favored product often brought to cemeteries by Filipinos who observe All Saints’ Day.

DTI issued a list of suggested retail prices (SRPs) for popular candle types from major manufacturing companies. Some of them are:

  • 20-pc pack of white Liwanag Esperma #3 – P43.75
  • 20-pc pack of Liwanag Esperma #5 – P60.75
  • 4-pc pack of Liwanag Esperma #24 – P122.75
  • 10-pc pack of white Manila Wax Esperma #2 – P44.75
  • 20-pc pack of Esperma #3 – P54.75
  • 4-pc Sperma #14 – P44.75
  • 2-pc pack of Esperma #16 – P49.75

The DTI met with candle manufacturers to make sure prices are stable. Consumers are also assured of a dependable supply of candles. As November 1 approaches, the department will continue to monitor prices and supply.

Dimagiba enjoined consumers to be more vigilant when buying candles. They should check the weight and price tag before making any purchases.

Incidents of overpricing can be reported to DTI offices or through the hotline 751-3330 or 0917-834-3330. – Rappler.com
