Sony Q1 loss widens; cuts 2012 profit forecast

TOKYO, Japan – Sony said Thursday, August 2, its fiscal first-quarter net loss widened to 24.6 billion yen (US$313.5 million) as the struggling consumer electronics and entertainment giant undergoes a huge restructuring.

The company’s latest loss was much bigger than the 15.5 billion yen shortfall it reported in the same period a year ago.

Sony cut its full-year profit forecast by one-third to $255 million. – Agence France-Presse
