LIST: Aid from Philippine companies during coronavirus pandemic

MANILA, Philippines – Amid the rising number of novel coronavirus cases in the country, some of the biggest businesses have provided aid to frontliners, employees, and vulnerable communities affected by the pandemic.

Some donated personal protective equipment (PPE) and medical supplies to health workers and hospitals, while others pledged financial assistance to employees affected by lockdowns. Many also provided food and other goods to the poorest households.

Here are some of the firms that have provided help.

Aboitiz Group of Companies

The Aboitiz Group donated P100 million to Project Ugnayan, a collaboration of local companies, to purchase gift certificates worth P1,000 for poor families in Greater Manila.

The Aboitiz Foundation also set up a fundraising page called Help Our Health Workers Fight COVID-19, to raise money for PPE sets in coordination with the University of the Philippines (UP) Medical Foundation and The Outstanding Women in the Nation’s Service Foundation. As of April 14, the foundation has raised P1.82 million.

On March 18, the Aboitiz Group donated 5,700 N95 masks to the Department of Health (DOH) and to the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM).

As of April 13, a total of 4,500 surgical masks and 1,500 surgical gloves had also been turned over to the Philippine General Hospital (PGH), Lung Center of the Philippines, and Dr Jose N Rodriguez Memorial Hospital.

The Aboitiz Group also gave 15,500 surgical masks, 1,500 surgical gloves, 20 tents, and 4 alcohol drums to the the government.

On June 3, the Aboitiz Group donated 4,400 rapid test kits to Batangas province, too.

Pilmico Foods Corporation, its food business unit, has been distributing food to hospitals and military checkpoints. It has so far donated almost 500,000 pieces of bread and sacks of flour for nearly 60,000 pieces of bread, which were distributed to hospitals, checkpoints, and underprivileged communities.

Its banking arm Union Bank of the Philippines also extended aid to at least 6,000 communities in Metro Manila through its corporate social responsibility program and its employee volunteerism arm called Go Beyond Communities.

On top of this, the bank earmarked P3.8 million to procure and donate PPE sets for medical workers and allocated another P1 million to support the nationwide food relief program of Aboitiz Foundation.

The Aboitiz Group has also expanded its relief efforts to the Visayas and Mindanao. Its various business units in the Visayas and Mindanao donated food and PPE sets to local government units (LGUs) and hospitals in Cebu, Leyte, Masbate, Negros Occidental, Davao City, Cotabato City, Iligan City, Sultan Kudarat, and Cotabato.

Adobo Connection

Adobo Connection provided food for over 3,000 health workers at several hospitals in Luzon.

The local fast-food chain is also doing a donation drive to provide home-cooked meals to health workers. For every P1,000 donation, the company will deliver meals to 10 frontliners at the donor’s hospital of choice plus two complimentary meals from Adobo Connection.

Alliance Global Incorporated (AGI)

Andrew Tan’s AGI, through the DOH, is donating one million liters of 70% disinfectant ethyl alcohol to hospitals and other medical institutions, the Philippine National Police (PNP), the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), and LGUs.

Amway Philippines

Direct selling company Amway Philippines reallocated its marketing budget for this period towards their relief effort and pledged over P3 million in cash, products, and PPE sets to provide assistance to frontliners and affected sectors.

Amway also partnered with the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) to provide over P2 million worth of its nutrition and personal care products and P400,000 in cash to aid the organization’s ongoing initiatives.

The company also launched a program to further raise funds. A portion of the sales from its line of health supplements, Nutrilite, will go to its COVID-19 relief fund. The final amount will be matched and doubled by Amway by May 15.

Araneta City

Araneta City is waiving the rent of all tenants which are not operating due to the lockdown. The company also advanced its employees’ salary for the end of March and promised to pay them until the lockdown ends on April 14.

Moreover, Araneta City has donated food packs to communities in Quezon City and is planning to launch the #TogetherWeHeal Donation Drive in coordination with the J. Amado Araneta Foundation. The foundation has pledged to donate test kits to the Quezon City General Hospital.

Asian Terminals Incorporated (ATI)

ATI is making available its facilities as temporary quarantine areas for COVID-19 patients.

Its passenger terminal building, which has a 2,000-seating capacity, will be converted into a temporary holding facility. Its two adjacent southside berthing facilities will also accommodate the floating hospital vessels being deployed by the Department of Transportation (DOTr).

Ayala Corporation

The country’s largest and oldest conglomerate allotted P2.4 billion for the wages of its employees and partner employers during the Luzon lockdown.

Ayala Malls also waived rental fees, worth around P1.4 billion, of businesses that are not allowed to operate.

Through Ayala Healthcare Holdings, over 10,000 N95 masks were distributed to public hospitals on March 16 as well.

On June 4, the Ayala Group donated an automated RNA Extraction machine and two RT-PCR machines to the Southern Philippines Medical Center and other health institutions in Davao City, which will help increase the city’s daily COVID-19 testing capacity by a maximum of 1,000 tests per day.

Around 5,000 employees of Ayala Land also participated in the ALI Pays it Forward campaign, which aims to generate donations for public hospitals in Metro Manila through Project Ugnayan.

Bank of China Manila Branch

The Bank of China donated 500,000 disposable medical masks to the DOH, for distribution to hospitals and vulnerable communities all over Luzon.

Binalot Fiesta Foods

Binalot is delivering ready-to-eat meals for doctors, nurses, and other medical practitioners. It has maintained a skeleton workforce to “churn out hundreds of Binalot meals per day to be delivered to hospitals.”

Together with the Electric Vehicle Association of the Philippines, Binalot is also providing meals to police and soldiers at checkpoints.

Binalot said it has partnered with various institutions and individuals who sponsor food packages for the frontliners. Those interested to become a sponsor may call Vida Malapajo at 09328761352.

Bloomberry Resorts Corporation

Solaire Resort & Casino’s Bloomberry Cultural Foundation donated a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) machine – a device used for COVID-19 testing – to the Lung Center of the Philippines. It has also procured PPE, ventilators, rapid test kits, more PCR machines, medical equipment, and essential supplies for donation to hospitals.

The company also retrofitted the Ninoy Aquino Stadium and Rizal Memorial Stadium,
which will serve as quarantine and treatment facilities for coronavirus patients. It procured essential goods worth P100 million for distribution to poor families as well.

Bounty Agro Ventures Incorporated (BAVI)

BAVI, the company behind brands Chooks-to-Go, Bounty Fresh, Uling Roasters, Adobo Connection, and the Meat Market by Holly Farms, prepared packed meals for health workers and checkpoint officers across Luzon.

From March 24 to March 29, the company is also distributing a total of 100,000 kilograms of fully-dressed chicken to Bulacan, Tarlac, Pangasinan, Bataan, Rizal, Taguig, Pasig, and Caloocan.

On top of this, BAVI is providing meals to stranded dormers of UP at its Diliman, Los Baños, and Mindanao campuses.

CDO Foodsphere

Since manufacturing establishments are considered essential during the lockdown, CDO Foodsphere has provided temporary shelter for its employees who live far from factories, and shuttle services for employees who go to and from work daily.

The company is also providing its workers with masks and daily doses of vitamins.

Chamber of Mines of the Philippines (COMP)

Data from COMP as of May 4 showed that some of the country’s biggest mining companies have reallocated P261.25 million of their Social Development and Management Program funds for COVID-19 relief operations.

The funds were used to provide PPE sets, health supplies, relief goods, and food packages to 43,403 frontliners and 578,449 households.

The mining companies involved are Nickel Asia Corporation, Platinum Group Metals Corporation, Philex Mining Corporation, Lepanto Consolidated Mining Company, Marcventures Mining & Development Corporation, TVI Resource Development (Phils) Incorporated, Eramen Minerals Incorporated, Filminera Resources Corporation & Philippine Gold Processing & Refining Corporation, CTP Construction & Development Corporation, Carrascal Nickel Corporation, Sagittarius Mines Incorporated, and Silangan Mindanao Mining Company.

Clark Development Corporation

Clark Development Corporation, in cooperation with Widus Foundation, donated P1.5 million worth of PPE to 16 government hospitals in Pampanga and Tarlac. It also distributed relief goods worth P500,000 to around 1,000 families.

Coca-Cola Philippines

On March 20, Coca-Cola Philippines announced that its commercial advertising budget worth P150 million will be redirected toward relief operations, including provision of protective equipment and beverages for health workers, and delivery of food packs to the most vulnerable families.

Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Incorporated (DCCCII)

The DCCCII launched a donation drive to fund the production of face shields and other PPE sets for health workers and uniformed personnel.

The chamber also supports the Junior Chamber International-DuWaling Chapter’s #ShieldOurHeroes campaign, which encourages and teaches people to make face shields at home.

Eagle Cement Corporation

Eagle Cement Corporation donated thousands of food packs containing rice and canned goods, vitamins, and other medicines to 20 barangays in San Ildefonso and Doña Remedios Trinidad in Bulacan.

The company also provided free water supply for residents experiencing water shortages in the area. On top of this, Eagle Cement is planning to provide essential hygiene products such as soaps and sanitizers to the same communities.

eBET

eBET, a mobile gaming systems provider, donated 9,800 PPE sets to the Makati Medical Center on April 3.

FWD Life Insurance Corporation

The insurance company announced enhanced coverage for its existing customers, called FWD COVID-19 Assist. Medical workers who are existing FWD policyholders will also be provided with lump-sum death benefits for claims from April 16 to May 31.

FWD also launched a COVID-19 Charity Drive where donations received from policyholders will be used to buy additional PPE sets for our health workers.

Globe Telecom

As of April 20, Globe has contributed over P255 million in donations, employee support, connectivity needs, and promos. It has provided a 60-day credit extension to customers to ease their worries on bill payments.

Globe is also doing a donation drive through its app, where subscribers can donate rewards points to help medical workers in the country. The Globe Rewards donation drive was able to raise over P35 million for 11 hospitals in the country.

The company also installed free GoWIFI services in 68 hospitals nationwide. It waived charges for calls to government numbers and health hotlines such as the DOH COVID-19 hotline, national emergency hotline, National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council trunk line, Hopeline 2919, and KonsultaMD.

Together with Singtel, Globe also matched its employee donations for a total of P27 million. The money will be used for the World Trade Center COVID-19 hub and more PPE sets.

Its subsidiary Mynt is offering its fintech services even without load during this period as well. Consumers can transact with merchants, pay bills, and transfer money through GCash even without prepaid load.

In areas under general community quarantine, taxi and bus drivers can now also accept digital payments through GCash’s scan-to-pay feature using QR codes.

Hotel Sogo

The motel chain donated P60 million worth of accommodations equivalent to over 800 rooms as free temporary lodging for frontliners. Ten of its branches provided rooms to medical workers of 25 hospitals in key cities in the country, including Manila, Caloocan, Naga, Bacoor, Pasay, Muntinlupa, and Quezon City.

International Container Terminal Services, Incorporated (ICTSI)

Enrique Razon Jr’s port management company donated P350 million to national and local government agencies, immediate communities, employees, and port stakeholders.

Among its donations were PPE sets, ventilators, and test kits to private and government hospitals; disinfectants to healthcare workers; and food and other essential supplies to truckers and vulnerable communities.

ICTSI is also part of Project Ugnayan.

ING Philippines

ING Bank pledged to donate €100,000 (P5.5 million) to hospitals and non-governmental organizations in response to coronavirus-related needs. The bank is also supporting the United Nations Children’s Fund donation drive to provide aid to the local healthcare sector in the country.

Insular Life Assurance Company, Ltd

Insular Foundation is providing free care packages to health workers in selected hospitals. The care packages include P27.5 million worth of life insurance benefits and hospitalization.

The company, together with its employees and agents, also raised funds to buy PPE for 9 hospitals in Metro Manila.

JG Summit Holdings

The Gokongwei conglomerate pledged P100 million to support national and local frontline health providers, through its philanthropic arm Gokongwei Brothers Foundation (GBF). The funds will be used for PPE sets and rapid test kits.

Together with GBF, its food manufacturing arm Universal Robina Corporation (URC) has temporarily repurposed some parts of its production line to manufacture 100,000 reusable face shields for health workers in 25 hospitals. The company has delivered 40,000 face masks to hospitals as of April 27 and will complete deliveries by May.

URC is also donating its products such as Great Taste coffee, Magic Crackers, Nissin Cup Noodles, Refresh Mineral Water, and Vitasoy drinks to health workers and personnel manning checkpoints all over the country.

On top of this, URC Sugar and Renewables Division is donating sanitation and hygiene products to checkpoints as well as disaster risk reduction and management offices in Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental, Batangas, Panay, and Tuguegarao City, Cagayan.

Robinsons Land Corporation waived rental charges for all non-operational tenants of its malls during the lockdown as well.

Jollibee Foods Corporation (JFC)

JFC donated P220 million worth of food from its brands Jollibee, Chowking, Mang Inasal, Red Ribbon, Greenwich, Burger King, Panda Express, and PHO24 to frontliners and communities.

The company also released an emergency response fund worth P1 billion in advanced one-month salary and 13th-month pay to cover all work teams, as well as partner employers in stores.

To support farmers, the Jollibee Group Foundation partnered with Dana Foundation for the Food Ration Drive project, where Dana Foundation buys vegetables from smallholder farmers. These vegetables are cooked into meals and then distributed to frontliners in Davao. The program has supported 35 farmers, with 3,250 meals and 250 bags of assorted vegetables distributed as of May 22.

LBC Express

LBC committed P50 million worth of reusable 2-ply masks to be distributed to communities in densely populated areas of the country.

Ligo Sardines

Ligo Sardines reallocated its entire advertising budget for 2020 to donate to non-governmental organizations, charities, and independent groups that are on the frontline in the battle against the coronavirus.

Lopez Group of Companies

The Lopez Group of Companies donated P100 million to the DOTr to assist the agency’s programs, such as the conversion of passenger ships into temporary quarantine areas and the establishment of quarantine terminals for returning seafarers and overseas Filipino workers.

Its geothermal company Energy Development Corporation lent 11 container vans to LGUs in Leyte, Negros Oriental, Ilocos Norte, Kidapawan City, and Cotabato province. The container vans are used as temporary isolation rooms for patients and quarantine rooms for frontliners.

LT Group

Lucio Tan’s LT Group donated a total of 190,000 liters of ethyl alcohol, almost 200,000 liters of distilled drinking water, and 2,000 pieces of N95 face masks to frontline health workers through its disaster relief program called Help Flows.

LT Group’s donations were coursed through the DOH and GMA’s Kapuso Foundation.

Mayora Group

Mayora, the makers of wafer brand CalCheese, is donating P6 million worth of products to LGUs and hospitals.

The company earlier gave out CalCheese to frontliners during the first week of the quarantine. It donated P1 million worth of assorted biscuit products, including Malkist, Valmer, Wafello, and Superstar, to LGUs in Metro Manila.

The company is also giving a 20% discount to LGUs from April onwards on all its biscuit products.

McDonald’s Philippines

Through the McDo Kindness Kitchen program, McDonald’s Philippines pledged 50,000 meals for health workers, police, LGU volunteers, government agencies, and local communities.

Its charity Ronald McDonald House Charities is also now accepting cash donations from individual and corporate donors who wish to support McDo Kindness Kitchen.

Mega Global Corporation

Through the Mega Tiu Lim Foundation, the sardines company is pledging P50 million worth of aid to communities and its employees.

Mega Global also opened the Mega Malasakit Kitchen, which provides 500 meals daily to “unseen frontliners” such as those who are manning checkpoints, supermarkets, and barangay health offices. This program is being done in partnership with various groups such as Lin’s Kitchen, Doña Maria, Ideal Macaroni, Lemon Square Lava Cake, 3J Plasticworld and Mtg Corporation, Fishta Seafood, Fish ‘n Chix, and Rizons ICA Batch ’97.

Megaworld Corporation

Andrew Tan’s property firm deployed its Citylink buses to provide free daily transport to healthcare personnel, in coordination with the DOTr. These buses will bring the workers to and from Pasig City General Hospital and Makati Medical Center from March 23 to April 12.

Megaworld is also extending food assistance to its construction workers in its two townships affected by the lockdown, The Upper East and Northill Gateway.

Melco Resorts and Entertainment (Philippines) Corporation

Through its charitable arm Melco Resorts (Philippines) Foundation Corporation, the company donated 125,000 food packs worth P50 million. It also donated an additional P100 million worth of food packs for distribution to vulnerable communities.

Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC)

MPTC, Metro Pacific Investments Corporation’s tollway arm, donated sacks of rice, boxes of canned goods, and packs of noodles to some 220 barangays within its expressway network: North Luzon Expressway, Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway, Cavite Expressway, and Cavite-Laguna Expressway.

MPTC is also waiving toll for medical workers.

Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC)

MMPC lent two L300 units to the Santa Rosa City government in Laguna. The two vehicles will be used as shuttles for frontliners, bringing them to and from their destinations within the city.

MVP Group of Companies

Manny Pangilinan’s MVP Group of Companies donated over 1,000 grocery packs to families of frontline health workers and personnel of V. Luna Hospital, as well as to families of soldiers manning checkpoints.

The contents of the grocery pack include 2 cans of meat loaf, 2 cans of corned beef, 2 kilos of rice, 6 sachets of Milo, and 10 sachets of coffee.

On April 13, PLDT turned over 30 of its service vehicles to the AFP for use in its anti-COVID-19 operations.

PLDT, Smart, and Meralco employees will also receive their 13th-month pay in advance.

Meanwhile, One Meralco Foundation (OMF), Meralco’s social development arm, distributed food packs and care packages to around 3,750 vulnerable families in Quezon City, Pasig City, Manila, Cavite, Las Piñas City, Pateros, Malabon City, Caloocan City, Navotas City, Antipolo City, Marikina City, Mandaluyong City, and San Juan City.

OMF also launched an internal online campaign within the Meralco organization to provide marginalized families in Metro Manila with grocery gift certificates. The project raised more than P1.5 million and benefited at least 1,500 families.

On top of this, OMF donated 3,650 face masks, 450 goggles, 6,400 surgical gloves, and 100 face shields to government hospitals in Luzon and frontliners of various LGUs in the Meralco franchise area – such as Marikina City, Batangas City, and San Pascual, Batangas.

OMF also sponsored the disinfection and decontamination of various offices of the PNP and the Rizal Medical Center.

Meralco donated 20 desktop computers to the Philippine Genome Center at UP Diliman as well.

Other subsidiaries such as eSakay and PayMaya also contributed to the cause. eSakay partnered with the Pasig LGU to shuttle health workers and employees of essential businesses to work. PayMaya launched its One Against COVID-19 donation drive. National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP)

The NGCP donated P1 billion to hospitals and LGUs across the country. Part of it went to the purchase of ventilators, video laryngoscopes, and PPE. The company also distributed grocery packs and meals to vulnerable families and frontliners.

The NGCP is donating another P5 million worth of 10,000 supermarket gift certificates to Project Ugnayan.

Nestlé Philippines

Nestlé Philippines turned over P10 million to the PRC to aid in relief operations.

The PRC is using the funds to set up a testing laboratory and purchase medical tents, PPE sets, test kits, ventilators, respirators, surgical masks, and other essential health equipment.

Okada Manila

Okada Manila directly donated P25 million each to the Philippine Heart Center and the Lung Center of the Philippines, to be used for procuring necessary machines, equipment, and medical supplies. The company also pledged to donate relief goods worth P100 million for distribution to poor families.

Pepsi Cola Products Philippines Incorporated (PCPPI)

PCPPI distributed beverages to officers manning checkpoints across the country and lent 122 tents for checkpoints.

The company donated close to 8,000 cases of drinks, including Premier Water, Gatorade, and Pepsi, across Luzon. In the Visayas and Mindanao, PCPPI is also sending out 1,000 cases of drinks to checkpoints in Cagayan de Oro, Bacolod, and Zamboanga.

As of May 4, the company has distributed more than 25,000 assorted drinks to several hospitals in Metro Manila.

Philam Group

Through Philam Foundation, the Philam Group will be providing free compassionate benefit coverage worth P50,000 to 30,000 medical frontliners. The total sum is P1.5 billion.

Philippine Nickel Industry Association (PNIA)

The association collectively donated over P38 million of its social development management program fund for frontliners and communities in the Caraga region and the provinces of Zambales and Palawan.

PNIA donated over 26,960 sacks of rice, 31,800 food packs, over 20,300 units of medical supplies, and 5,000 COVID-19 test kits. It also organized transportation for displaced individuals, set up disinfection tents, and facilitated disinfection drives.

The founding members of PNIA include Agata Mining Ventures Incorporated, Carrascal Nickel Corporation, Citinickel Mines and Development Corporation, CTP Construction and Mining Corporation, Zambales Diversified Metals Corporation, Berong Nickel Corporation, Marcventures Mining Development Corporation, and Platinum Group Metals Corporation.

Philippines AirAsia

The airline chartered at least 6 cargo flights to Manila to support emergency response initiatives. Transported goods include over 600 boxes of PPE from Shenzhen, China, and 5,000 kilograms of tropical fish from Bali, Indonesia.

PHINMA Group

PHINMA is donating P25 million to initiatives and community response activities during the COVID-19 pandemic.

So far, the group has allocated P8 million to provide PPE, food, lodging, and transportation to medical workers; P7 million for food and housing of communities; P5 million to the Bayanihan Musikahan effort; and P3.75 million to fund assistance for the PHINMA Group’s up to 1,500 contractual staff.

Procter & Gamble (P&G) Philippines

P&G’s manufacturing plant in Cabuyao City, Laguna, is producing face masks to be distributed for free to its employees and medical workers in the Philippines.

The company also donated P100 million worth of products to hospitals and frontliners.

Resorts World Manila

Through the Resorts World Philippines Cultural Heritage Foundation, the company turned over 16,000 PPE sets and 40,000 N95 face masks to public hospitals PGH, NationaI Kidney and Transplant Institute, Pasay City General Hospital, and Ospital ng Parañaque.

The company also donated a total of 40,000 face masks and 400 infrared thermometers to Pasay City and Parañaque City LGUs, and the National Capital Region Police Office. It also distributed 15,000 grocery packs to underprivileged barangays in Pasay City.

San Miguel Corporation (SMC)

As of April 23, SMC’s total donations to COVID-19 efforts had reached P1.147 billion.

The Ramon Ang-led conglomerate allocated P500 million to buy PPE sets for health workers. The first 10,000 were locally produced and were donated to PGH. On April 23, the conglomerate said 54,000 PPE sets from suppliers in China were also donated to over 100 hospitals in the country.

SMC donated ventilators to 5 hospitals, as well as 5 sets of COVID-19 testing machines. It also turned over 45 Adult Nasal High Flow machines, which are used in the management of COVID-19 patients as part of supplemental oxygen therapy, to the government’s coronavirus task force.

Amid the shortage of disinfectants, SMC repurposed the manufacturing facilities of its liquor subsidiary Ginebra San Miguel to produce 70% ethyl alcohol. As of May 1, its alcohol donations have reached over 1.1 million liters worth P83.3 million. The company has also donated P15.37 million worth of its powder disinfectant Protect Plus Gold to various LGUs and hospitals.

As of April 23, SMC’s total food donations have reached P390.7 million. These include canned goods, biscuits, coffee, and milk delivered through LGUs, non-profit organizations, and church-based groups, among others. It has also distributed some 1.1 million kilograms of rice, worth an estimated P38.4 million, as well as P150 million worth of poultry products to poor communities.

San Miguel Foods is also producing 24,000 pieces of buns daily. As of April 21,  the conglomerate has produced 284,171 pieces of its “nutribun” version and donated 177,808 pieces of pandesal to 46 communities in Metro Manila and nearby provinces.

In addition, SMC gave over 15,000 sacks of flour to LGUs and bakers around Metro Manila, Batangas, Bulacan, and Nueva Ecija.

SMC also opened local farm produce stands at two Petron stations – Petron Katipunan in Quezon City and Petron Zabarte in Caloocan City – to help farmers sell their crops. These are run by the Department of Agriculture under the Kadiwa ng Ani at Kita program.

SMC Infrastructure, meanwhile, is waiving toll on all its expressways for healthcare professionals. Over 5,191 medical practitioners have availed of toll-free RFID stickers as of April 21.

As of May 1, SMC Infrastructure and Petron Corporation have donated 170,000 liters of fuel worth P5.8 million for the DOTr’s Libreng Sakay program for medical workers. The fuel subsidy program is extended until June 15.

The conglomerate also allotted P5 million for the construction of emergency quarantine facilities in military camps nationwide.

Security Bank

Security Bank donated 3 ambulances worth P11.4 million to the PRC. These ambulances will be used to transport suspected coronavirus patients from their homes to hospitals.

Shopee Philippines

The Sy family’s SM Group allocated P170 million to support the needs of PGH, RITM, and other government hospitals by providing protective equipment and medical supplies.

The medical supplies include intensive care unit-grade ventilators, which have been distributed to PGH, Lung Center of the Philippines, Dr Jose N Rodriguez Memorial Hospital, San Lazaro Hospital, West Visayas State University Medical Center, and Baguio General Hospital.

Essential medical supplies and PPE sets were also turned over to Carmona Hospital and Medical Center in Cavite, Batangas Medical Center, Casimiro A Ynares Sr Memorial Hospital in Rizal, and Manila East Medical Center in Rizal.

SM Foundation also donated test kits to RITM, which can process around 10,000 samples. Aside from the test kits, SM donated N95 masks, surgical masks, disinfecting alcohol, goggles, medical gloves, and PPE sets to RITM.

On April 28, Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto announced that the SM Foundation donated P3 million worth of test kits to the LGU, which went to The Medical City.

BDO Foundation, the philanthropic arm of its banking unit BDO Unibank, donated 300 smartphones with prepaid load and 550 power banks to the Department of Science and Technology for its RapidPass System project.

BDO Foundation also supported ReliefAgad, a web application that automates the distribution of the government’s emergency subsidy program. It facilitated one-time passwords to users of ReliefAgad.

Sun Life Financial-Philippines Foundation

Sun Life Financial Philippines, through its philanthropic arm Sun Life Foundation, is donating digital life insurance to health workers directly involved in fighting COVID-19 and are registered members of Lazada Philippines. The company is giving away a total of 3,000 Life Armor products with up to P75 million in coverage.

The company has also donated 3,000 PPE sets to medical workers as well as equipment to a number of hospitals including PGH and RITM. Sun Life Philippines is also part of the Project Ugnayan consortium that collectively aims to help 1.5 million families.

Toyota Motor Philippines Corporation

Through the Toyota Mobility Foundation, the company is providing up to 10 shuttle transportation services for PGH frontliners, to support the DOTR’s Libreng Sakay program.

The service is equipped with a “Just-in-Time” booking app to allow greater certainty in the pick-up time and locations for enhanced security.

TVI Resource Development (Phils) Incorporated (TVIRD)

The mining company distributed N95 face masks, face shields, and surgical gloves to LGU workers, volunteers, medical workers, police, and civilian volunteers in the Zamboanga Peninsula. TVIRD also donated food, sanitizing tents, and PPE sets to hospitals in the region.

About 25 barangays in the Zamboanga Peninsula and in the province of Agusan del Norte also received relief goods from the company.

Udenna Group

Dennis Uy’s Udenna Group announced it is maintaining the salaries and benefits of all its employees during the lockdown. The company is providing half of the employees’ 13th-month pay and a portion of their yearend bonus in advance.

Its social arm, Udenna Foundation, donated 1,000 COVID-19 diagnostic kits to the DOH. It also initiated the Sagip Saka program, which delivered crops from farmers in the provinces to Metro Manila and other parts of the country. As of May 6, the Sagip Saka program has helped 1,800 farmers nationwide.

Udenna brands Wendy’s and Conti’s served over 200 food packs for health workers, community workers, and police.

Uy’s Phoenix Petroleum is also providing 50 liters of fuel a day to 60 private bus companies participating in the DOTr Free Ride Service for Health Workers, totaling 3,000 liters per day. The fuel will be provided until May 15.

Villar Group of Companies

The Villar family donated disinfecting apparatus to 9 government hospitals in Metro Manila, 200,000 face masks, and daily supply of bottled drinking water to the government through the DOH.

Zalora Philippines

Fashion e-commerce site Zalora Philippines is mounting an e-donation drive. All of the proceeds will go to the relief efforts of the PRC, such as providing critical supplies to medical workers and giving basic necessities to underprivileged families.

On April 28, Zalora also launched a new Essentials category to support communities and businesses affected by the lockdown. Under Essentials, customers can now shop for medicine, PPE sets, food products, and personal care items.

ZEN Rooms

ZEN offered its hotel branch in Quiapo to accommodate medical workers from PGH during the lockdown. It is also offering free accommodation to PRC volunteers who are working to supply food, distribute personal hygiene items, and give medical assistance to communities across Metro Manila.

The company is also collaborating with the PRC for the Red Cross Donation Drive.
