(UPDATED) The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas says Governor Benjamin Diokno was discharged earlier than expected and continues his recovery at home

Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Governor Benjamin Diokno is on medical leave after undergoing a medical procedure on Sunday, January 17.

The BSP said on Monday, January 18, that Diokno had a procedure to address a blood clot caused by “a minor head accident.”

The central bank did not elaborate on Diokno’s accident.

“According to his medical report, prognosis for the governor’s complete recovery is ‘very good’ as he was awake and conversant an hour after the procedure,” the BSP said.

The central bank later said Diokno was discharged from the hospital on Wednesday, January 20, earlier than expected.

“The governor is now recuperating at home and may preside over the Monetary Board meeting as early as next week,” the BSP said on Wednesday.
