Business Sense: Lisset Laus-Velasco and leading the Laus Group
For the first episode of Business Sense, Rappler talks to Lisset Laus-Velasco, CEO of the Laus Group of Companies, on her leadership style and the auto industry outlook in the new normal

The Laus Group of Companies is among the largest multi-brand networks in the Philippines today, a highly diversified conglomerate with automotive dealership as its core business.

Founded by Levy Laus in 1978, the countryside taipan’s company is currently the dealer of popular car brands such as Mitsubishi, Ford, Hyundai, Chevrolet, BMW, Volkswagen, and Kia.

The baton has been passed to Lisset Laus-Velasco, Levy’s eldest daughter, following the patriarch’s death in a helicopter crash in Bulacan in 2019.

Velasco is making a name for herself – most recently recognized as one of six dealership honorees of the 2021 Salute to Dealers award, which is bestowed by multinational automaker Ford Motor Company.

Out of 80 dealers worldwide, she was the only woman who received the recognition.

Rappler business reporter Ralf Rivas talks to Velasco about the automotive industry’s outlook amid the pandemic, her leadership style, and what it’s like to take over the family business. – Rappler.com
