The Aquino government's name-and-shame campaign against tax evaders continues

MANILA, Philippines – The Aquino government’s name-and-shame campaign against tax evaders continues. This time, spotlight is focused on salons and beauty clinics.

On Wednesday, September 4, the Department of Finance put out full-page ads in broadsheets listing taxpayers categorized under “hairdressing and other beauty treatment.”

It included industry players that paid “ridiculously low income tax dues” in 2011. They are:

Salon/Beauty Clinic Area registered   2011 Income Tax Due
Borromeo’s House of Beauty   North Makati  P193.79
Salon D’Bagamasbad Malabon-Navotas  P172.00
Botchoy Barbershop  Trece Martires City, Cavite  P142.50
Limsan Barbership  Tagum, Davao del Norte P75.00

The tax bureau has published a similar list targetting erring restaurant owners in Makati and Quezon City. – Rappler.com
