Globe-TM switch and vice versa, without changing number, starts April 21
Interested subscribers can visit Globe stores or log into their GlobeOne accounts to apply for the porting service

Globe Telecom said its subscribers can switch to TM without changing numbers, and vice versa, starting Wednesday, April 21.

In a statement on Tuesday, April 20, Globe said the internal mobile number portability covers the following types of subscribers:

  • postpaid to prepaid
  • prepaid to postpaid
  • prepaid to prepaid

Globe clarified that subscribers who are not under a lock-in period and have no financial obligations or overdue balances can avail of the service.

Interested subscribers can visit Globe stores or log into their GlobeOne accounts to apply for the porting service.

Globe myBusiness subscribers, meanwhile, can check their eligibility on the GlobeOne app. If eligible, they can reach out to their account manager or through the myBusiness chat support to apply for porting.

“Enabling our customers with the freedom to move across subscription types while allowing them to retain their original mobile number creates a new level of experience,” said Globe chief commercial officer Issa Guevarra-Cabreira.

Under the Mobile Number Portability Act, a mobile phone user has to submit a porting application if he or she wants to change providers. The user can still keep his or her mobile number despite switching to another network.

The full implementation of the mobile number portability law was supposed to start during the 1st quarter of 2021. It was deferred to September 30.

Interoperability testing among networks will be in June, according to the National Telecommunications Commission. – Rappler.com
