More Japanese firms urged to invest in Clark

MANILA, Philippines — A Japanese industrial park owner plans to lure more Japanese companies to set up base in Clark Freeport in Pampanga, by citing the sustained sound business climate.

Clark Premiere Industrial Park Incorporated (CPIP) President and CEO Hiroyasu Yaguchi said enticing Japanese investors to put up manufacturing plants, or for existing locators to expand their operations, will help boost Clark as an investment destination.

CPIP said it is working with the business development group of Clark Development Corporation, through the assistance of Japan Economic Trade Organization (JETRO) Network, to draw plans of attracting more Japanese firms to invest in the country.

Japanese firms occupy a bulk of the 8.1-hectare industrial park. Currently, CPIP services 4 companies – Nanox Philippines Incorporated, L & K Industries Philippines, Incorporated, Aderans Philippines Incorporated and SMK Electronics Philippines Corporation.

Meanwhile, JETRO spearheads the investment promotion by receiving appointment requests and providing comprehensive information on the Philippines’ investment climate. It is also in charge as support center by accommodating inquiries and application for tenancy.

Other than investment incentives, “high-quality workforce and strategic location of the Philippines as a business destination make Clark an attractive investment destination,” Yaguchi said.

At present, Yaguchi said CPIP aims to reinvent solutions to help Japanese companies relocate to Clark. “This could be done through building the necessary environment such as easy business registration processing, and full assistance until they are well established in their business undertakings,” he added.

The owner of the industrial park said his office would continue to assist Japanese overseas companies in entering the Philippines, but most especially in Clark.

CPIP provides multi-faceted support, being the first contact point for overseas companies interested in expansion to the Philippines.
