MANILA, Philippines (3rd UPDATE) – Local airlines cancelled more flights Wednesday, December 16 as Typhoon Nona (international name Melor) continues to threaten parts of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

As of Wednesday morning, the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) announced 8 flight cancellations:

  • 2P 2079 / 2080 Manila-Catarman-Manila (Operated by PAL Express of Philippine Airlines)
  • 2P 2031 / 2032 Manila-Busuanga-Manila 
  • DG 6041 / 6042 Manila-Caticlan-Manila (Operated by Cebgo, sister airline of Cebu Pacific)
  • 5J 196 / 197 Manila-Cauayan-Manila (Operated by Cebu Pacific)

On Tuesday, December 15, PAL, Cebu Pacific, Cebgo, and Skyjet announced 64 cancelled flights:

Typhoon Nona slightly weakened and is now over the West Philippine Sea, state weather bureau PAGASA said in its 5 am bulletin Wednesday, December 16.

The typhoon is expected to leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Friday, December 18. (READ: Typhoon Nona slightly weakens, but still a threat)

Meanwhile, forecasters are also monitoring a tropical depression outside PAR, which is about 1,425 kilometers east southeast of Mindanao. – Rappler.com
