Hong Kong, Macau flights cancelled due to Carina
(UPDATED) Philippine Airlines (PAL) and Cathay Pacific cancel some flights between Manila and Macau, Beijing or Hong Kong

MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) – More than a dozen flights were cancelled on Monday, August 1, as Severe Tropical Storm Carina (internationally known as Typhoon Nida) headed for Hong Kong and southern China after hitting the Philippines over the weekend.

The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) announced that as of 4 pm on Monday, two airlines have cancelled flights.

Philippine Airlines (PAL) flights:

  • PR 352 Manila-Macau
  • PR 353 Macau-Manila
  • PR 306 Manila-Hong Kong
  • PR 307 Hong Kong-Manila
  • PR 310 Manila-Hong Kong
  • PR 311 Hong Kong-Manila
  • PR 312 Manila-Hong Kong
  • PR 313 Hong Kong-Manila
  • PR 360 Manila-Beijing
  • PR 361 Beijing-Manila (August 2)

Cathay Pacific flights:

  • CX 903 Manila-Hong Kong
  • CX 902 Hong Kong-Manila
  • CX 935 Manila-Hong Kong
  • CX 934 Hong Kong-Manila

Carina, which made landfall in the Philippine province of Cagayan on Sunday, July 31, had maximum winds of up to 105 kilometers per hour (km/h) and gustiness of up to 135 km/h as of Monday morning. Moderate to heavy rains are expected within its 500-km diameter. – Chrisee Dela Paz / Rappler.com
