Several airlines cancel flights as the typhoon batters Taiwan and brings heavy rain to the northern Philippines

MANILA, Philippines – Several airlines cancelled flights as Typhoon Ferdie (Meranti) battered Taiwan and extreme Northern Luzon.

The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) announced that the following flights have been cancelled as of 1 pm on Wednesday, September 14:

Cebu Pacific

Terminal 3 – 5J 312/ 313 MNL-TPE-MNL (Manila-Taipei-Manila)

China Airlines

Terminal 1 – CI 711/712 KHH-MNL-KHH (Kaohsiung-Manila-Kaohsiung)

Philippine Airlines

Terminal 3 – PR 2084/2085 MNL-BSO-MNL (Manila-Basco-Manila)

Terminal 2 – PR 2196/2197 MNL-LAO-MNL (Manila-Laoag-Manila)

SkyJet

Terminal 4 – M8 816/817 MNL-BSO-MNL (Manila-Basco-Manila)

Though Ferdie is already out of the Philippine Area of Responsibility, signal number 1 remains raised in Batanes. Moderate to heavy rain is still expected within the typhoon’s 600-kilometer diameter.

The typhoon is also the strongest to hit Taiwan this year and has brought parts of the country to a standstill on Wednesday. – Rappler.com
