Govt halts Zamboanga airport operations
MANILA, Philippines - Airport operations in Zamboanga up to 9 pm Monday, September 9, have been closed as police and soldiers battle it out with suspected members of a rebel group.
The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) issued this order as the city shuts down following the hostage taking by a faction of the National Moro Liberation Front (MNLF) allied with Nur Misuari.

"The CAAP today announced the issuance of NOTAM (notice to airman) that starts at 9:50 am until 9:00 pm, tonight suspending commercial operations of all flights coming in and out of Zamboanga International Airport for security and safety measures," the aviation body said in a statement. The order was signed by CAAP Director General William K. Hotckiss lll.
Ten commercial flights on Monday have been cancelled.

- 8 for Cebu Pacific: Manila/Zamboanga/Manila (5J 857/858,393/394/855C/856C) and 5J 840/434 Tawi Tawi/Zamboanga/Cebu
