“We are proud to offer more low-fare, great-value flights to the Kansai region, as we continue with our commitment to boost tourism and trade between the Philippines and Japan,” Iyog said.

Now on its 5th year of its Japan operations, the low-cost carrier plans to increase its capacity to Osaka using the Airbus A320 aircraft, increasing seat capacity by 133%.

Included in the agreement were the increase in Manila-Narita flights to a total maximum of 400 per week, previously 119, and the inclusion of 14 weekly Manila-Haneda flights.

The air talks also opened up unlimited air trafffic rights between points in the Philippines and Japan, excluding Manila and Haneda, respectively.

“The recently concluded air talks were very successful and will definitely pave the way for more direct linkages between the two countries. With more flights to the Philippines, we believe Japan can rival South Korea when it comes to foreign tourist arrivals,” Iyog noted.
