Cebu Pacific to fly to Riyadh starting October
This is the budget carrier’s third long-haul service to the Middle East

MANILA, Philippines – Cebu Pacific will begin flights between Manila and Riyadh on October 1 – its third long-haul service to the Middle East.

On Monday, September 8, the Gokongwei-led budget carrier started selling Manila-Riyadh flights to the public for P1, said Cebu Pacific General Manager for Long-Haul Division Alex Reyes. The promo will run until September 10, with the travel period valid between October 1 and December 31.

Cebu Pacific will fly to Riyadh every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, leaving Manila at 5:55 pm and arriving in the Saudi Arabian capital at 10:35 pm (Saudi time).

Regular fare for the Manila-Riyadh route is pegged at P3,499.

This will be the budget carrier’s third long-haul flight service to the Middle East. It now flies to Kuwait and Dubai.

Similar to its other Middle East flights, the Riyadh service will use the airline’s all-economy 436-seater Airbus A330-300 aircraft.

Reyes said the brand new A330 aircraft was delivered on September 2.

“We have long wanted to serve the substantial population of global Filipinos in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It will be our utmost pleasure to bring them home more often, on our extensive network and trademark low fares that are up to 35% lower than other airlines,” said Reyes.

Since 2009, the budget carrier has listed the Middle East as among its “must-fly-to” destinations amid challenges in cornering flight entitlements.

The Middle East is a big market for the budget carrier as it is home to over two million overseas Filipino workers.

Cebu Pacific also plans to launch flights to Dammam, Saudi Arabia from Manila on October 4. The Dammam service, according to Reyes, will fly non-stop, thrice weekly. – Mick Basa / Rappler.com
