MANILA, Philippines – Budget airline AirAsia will be moving 3 of its overseas flights from Terminal 4 of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) to the recently rehabilitated Terminal 3.
Beginning on Monday, September 15, its flights to Macau, Kota Kinabalu, and Incheon will operate at NAIA3, AirAsia announced in a Tweet.
However, rest of its air services – the international flights to Kuala Lumpur and Shanghai and domestic routes to Cebu, Kalibo, Puerto Princesa, Tagbilaran, and Tacloban will remain at NAIA4.
AirAsia, the Philippine unit of Malaysia’s AirAsia Berhad, joins other foreign carriers who already transferred operations to NAIA3. Among them are Singapore Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Emirates, KLM, and Delta Airlines, and All Nippon Airways.
NAIA3 went through a P1.9-billion rehabilitation that ended in August.
The rehabilitation project was undertaken by Takenaka Corporation of Japan to ease congestion at the main NAIA1, dubbed one of the world’s worst airports.
Facilities and services rehabilitated in NAIA3 included gate coordination, baggage handling, computer terminals, flight information displays, and fire protection systems that will allow a faster and more pleasant experience for passengers. – Rappler.com
