PLDT, Globe unveil iPhone 6s, iPhone 6 Plus plans
MANILA, Philippines — Rival telecommunications providers Smart Communications, Incorporated and Globe Telecom, Incorporated on Friday, October 30, said that they will start offering iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus postpaid plans starting November 6.
Smart Communications said in a statement that customers can apply for an iPhone 6s postpaid plan with a 10GB data allowance at P2,000 ($42.80) monthly, with a one-time cash-out of P6,000 ($128.40). Smart will also offer iPhone 6s Plus with 15GB data allowance on Plan P2,499 ($53.48) per month, with a one-time cash-out of only P4,000 ($85.60).
Smart said both offers come with free calls and text messages to all networks, as well as free access to one application every month, under a 24-month contract.
The latest iPhones, according to the Philippine Long Distance Company (PLDT) subsidiary, will also be available through its premium postpaid brand Smart Infinity. Members can get complimentary iPhone 6s 128GB under Infinity Consumable Plan, costing P5,000 ($106.99) or two units of iPhone 6S 16GB under Consumable LTE Plan at P8,000 ($171.20) a month.
Smart said its postpaid subscribers who want to upgrade to the new iPhone plans will get a 20% discount from Zalora, P2,500 ($53.50) off for any Airbnb booking, and 3 months’ worth of iflix access, among others.
"With the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, Apple has once again pushed the boundaries of mobile innovation, allowing us to achieve so much more with our phones and experience the Smart Life with entertainment, convenience and peace of mind on the go," said Smart Postpaid Head Kathy Carag.
On the part of rival Globe, iPhone 6s 16GB will be available under a monthly plan of P1,799 ($38.50) with P450 ($9.63) monthly cashout and iPhone 6s Plus 16GB at P1,799 ($38.50) monthly plan with P650 ($13.91) monthly cashout.
Globe said that for its new iPhone postpaid plans, customers can enjoy "bigger data allocation...get 10GB of mobile data per month, access to Spotify Premium, HOOQ and top mobile games for 3 months, free access to Facebook, Viber and Instagram for 24 months, and unlimited calls to Globe and TM and unlimited texts to all networks for 24 months."
Globe said it will continue to expand its Long Term Evolution (LTE) footprint to further strengthen its mobile data infrastructure.
The expansion, which involves the activation of more than 4,300 cell sites with LTE technologies, is part of the company’s "continuing adoption of more advanced technologies to future-proof its network."
"With the Globe postpaid plan, customers can maximize the features of the new iPhones with more than double the data allocation for uninterrupted surfing and free access to music, movies and games," Globe Senior Vice President for Consumer Mobile Marketing Issa Cabreira said in a separate statement. – Rappler.com
