GMA-7 will relaunch broadcast service in the Middle East and cut subscription rate by 22% to reach out to close to 2.4 million Filipinos in the region

MANILA, Philippines – GMA Network Inc, the country’s second biggest media group and operator of GMA-7, will relaunch broadcast service in the Middle East and cut subscription rate by 22% to reach out to close to 2.4 million Filipinos in the region.

In a statement on Wednesday, April 24, Joseph Francia, GMA’s vice president and head of international operations, said it has entered into a partnership with Dubai-based pay-TV provider My-HD that is set to start May 1.

The network also decided to reduce its monthly subscription rate to $25 from $32.

“The My-GMA package from My-HD includes not only the GMA international channels namely, GMA Pinoy TV, GMA Life TV and GMA News TV International, but also up to 28 English language channels, 14 of which are in High Definition,” Francia said.

With its strengthened programming and enlarged presence in the Middle East, GMA is confident that it would be able to further grow its subscriber base in the Middle East region, which has the second largest population of overseas Filipinos next to North America.

“With over 2.4 million Filipinos in the Middle East, this community is considerably one of the largest ones in the region and thus plays a significant role in the development of the local economy. Through our agreement with GMA Network, we aim to offer viewers their favorite programs on our one-stop HD platform,” My-HD chief executive officer Cliff Nelson said.

My-HD Media will make the MyGMA package available on Arabsat through the frequency 10,770 MHz Vertical on BADR-5 satellite to further expand the reach of My-HD Media’s line-up of channels for over 170 million viewers in more than 80 countries across the Middle East, Africa and beyond.

The partnership between GMA and My-HD extends to the following in the Middle East as well as countries in North Africa:
